Many updates have been made today. We have experienced a few technical difficulties and are back up and running.
In the news:
The Board of Directors voted raise the Special Tax to its maximum rate for Fiscal Year 2010 / 11. This means the current rate of $117.06 per unit will go to $131.10 (collection rate added) per unit. A typical single family dwelling will now pay $524.40 per year (a rate we have not seen for three years) and a typical business will go from $1,170.60 to $1311.00 per year. This was not a very easy decision for the Board to make. Regretfully, we are looking a large deficit and raising the special tax rate to its maximum will only cut the deficit in half, expected to be $120,000.00. We will know more as we approach the final budget deadline.
The District is moving ahead with its Station Two Project, a low cost lease with Cal-trans to use the former maintenance yard. It is our hope this will alleviate the need for Insurance Company's to charge our Northern District residents more for being more than five miles from our fire station.

May 18, 2010:
The next regular meeting of the Board of Directors will be held on Tuesday June 8th at 7:30 pm, at the fire station. We will be discussing our tax rate for next year and a preliminary report with the revised rates will be available for review.

The Budget Committee will meet at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, May 11th, 2010, at the Fire Station.

April 13, 2010:
BBFPD Board of Directors donated the old rescue 8835 to the Lake Pillsbury Volunteer Fire District.
